Cuca Roseta

The new voice of Fado, Cuca Roseta is a rising star in the Portuguese Fado panorama. A true explorer of Lisbon and its surrounding areas, she loves to seek out the best trails, undiscovered spots and amazing views. Take a tour of Lisbon with her:

– Secret location?
Guincho Beach, and all the path that leads to a magical place with a hidden natural pool in the middle of the mountain’s hiking trails.

– Best view?
Ursa Beach, Peninha, and a secret spot on a hiking trail in Malveira da Serra – the best of all views with Sintra and Lisbon. I love to hike, to unite nature and its breathtaking landscapes to finding one’s inner peace and emotional equilibrium.

– A guilty pleasure?
Crepe with ice-cream and chocolate sauce.

– What’s the weirdest thing you’ve experienced in Lisbon?
When someone just randomly goes on a rant in the middle of the street, just because life probably isn’t going well. It’s really weird.

– Where can we find you on a Saturday afternoon?
Hiking or at the beach, for sure. If there’s a lot of rain, I’ll be home painting, writing poetry, songs and playing the piano.

– A perfect day with the family?
Just really being with the family, all together sharing something. I have a big, strong, united family.

– A trend for Lisbon’s future?
Lisbon is fashionable, and it’s been one of the top spots for tourists. I think that what’s really fashionable is what’s traditional, as a representative of the city’s glamour today. Fado, for instance, and the most varied Portuguese products, be it gastronomy or art, clothing or architecture, have been conquering the world.

– Favourite drink in the city? Coolest place to have a drink?
A Margarita at Mercado da Ribeira.

– What can you do here & nowhere else?
Chestnuts on S. Martinho. The sardines and Fado in the S. António ‘Festas de Lisboa’. The unique sunset by the sea! Walking through the streets of Lisbon and recognizing the one-of-a-kind light over the city’s rooftops.

– A dream duet?
Probably no-one that’s still alive. Nat King Cole. Louis Armstrong. Frank Sinatra. Michael Jackson. Freddy Mercury. Maybe Maria Bethania or someone that makes me cry when I hear them sing.

– An unforgettable voice?
Amalia Rodrigues

– The song that gives you goosebumps?
When I Fall in Love.

– Favourite book/band/movie?
Book – I Ching, È possível viver assim? Caridade. By Luigi Giussani, Vida de S.Teresinha do menino Jesus.
Band – Queen, Beatles.
Movie – Iberia by Carlos Saura.

– Something you cannot resist?
Chocolate

– Someone to take out for dinner?
My boyfriend or my son, the two most important people in my life.

– Someone NOT to be stuck on an elevator with?
Someone with bad energy.
